The Crooked Bar

October 25, 2000: KWE @ The Crooked Bar, West Hollywood. A raw and spirited performance with a receptive crowd in the crooked basement of this old house-like club on the Sunset Strip. It featured Tequila, a rare cover song for the era. I recorded the performance on cassette while LA artist Chris Tallon captured it on video. This image is from Tallon's footage, capturing the KWE-Dadaist gonzo a-cappella song-poem on traffic cone, Friendly Creature Eye. The happy-noir ditty La La La rounded out the set, and was stretched into an extended mix (to the chorus of Trio's Da Da Da), and overdriven into acoustic-electric frenzy. Suzanne and I ate chicken afterward to the neo-folk of Jason Akana.

Set List: K.W.E.!!!- Tequila- Lemon Crusted Fathom- Beautiful Mission- Hate The Sun- Alarm Tint Stereo- Bubble Thing- Porch Life- Friendly Creature Eye- Brown paper Bag- La La La.
