A Friendly Place
March 23, 2007: KWE @ A Friendly Place (Martin Durazo’s Studio), Los Angeles. Followed by Raugust (members of Indian Jewelry). The KWE returns a la carte on this cold March night bouncing a wave of distortion, Joy Division and Jesus and Mary Chain tunes, and originals off the bricks, bodies, and barbed wire of this giant downtown art party. One power cord and one light in complete darkness for a one hour electric set. This is the last KWE set where the Takamine acoustic-electric was used exclusively. Vocals were set on rockabilly reverb. A snappy 10” Piccolo snare on modified kit riser now replaced the last in what was a long history of steel mailboxes.
Set: Other Worlds- Oh Silly Girl- All Without- Happy Place- War- Today Is Victory- Tape Me- Hate The Sun- Dead Souls- Get Back To The Flat (Tribal version)- I Went Down With The Broken Pieces
